Killing tomatoes

It still hurts, but I had to do it. Yesterday I killed all my 10 tomato plants. Night temperature can go as low as 3 degrees now, so i don’t think I’ll get much more fruit from them. So I harvested all remaining green tomatoes, and I will let them ripe by the kitchen window. And dream of next year’s tomato projects.

My friend told me that it could be possible to save some tomato plants over winter. I followed her instructions and cut off the top branches, and placed them in soil. If i can keep them in rather cold temperature (like a garage or basement), there could be a possibility to have really early harvest next year. Storing them inside the apartment is too hot. Ill give it a try, let’s hope they survive.

I thought I would have too many tomato plants this first year, that I would get more tomatoes than I could eat. But looking back now, can say that 10 tomato plants was not enough. Maybe it’s because I’m a vegetarian, but tomatoes never lasts long in my house.
